Union Voting
Under Federal law, Union officer elections must occur once every three years for locals and at least once every four years for National/International Unions.
In other matters, board members will vote on routine business or the membership may be asked to vote on a particular issue. Under the direction of the UWUA National, Locals have been moving power from the members to the Local's officers, who are much easier to control.
Members have all the power at a meeting if they are informed and are willing to flex their rights. A recent example of worker power is the was the UAW cleaned up their union.
