Election Law Violations Should Not Go Unpunished

The Strength In Unity slate went around claiming that the RESCG, UNITED slate would be removed by the Union and that votes for them would be invalidated. Their meritless pre-election challenge was not adjudicated and they were even informed by the Election Committee that pre-election challenges are not a thing.

The Election Committee Chair, personally received nominations and approvals forms from Brian Alanis and not only accepted them, but certified the RESCG, UNITED candidates as a slate! The Election Committee Chair is the same person that oversaw the Trial Committee from the charges that SIU’s Secretary-Treasurer candidate, Mike Cormode filed in 2023. At the time of filing he was the Business Agent.

Cormode cannot expect reasonable people to believe that he is are unaware of the fact that there are no pre-election challenges. He cannot expect reasonable people to believe that he didn’t know that the same person that issued the ruling he claims prevents member Alanis from supporting candidates, was the same person to approve the candidates whose forms Brian Alanis ensured made it to hall in time for the deadline to submit nominations.

The reality is simple— Cormode and SIU were not targeting reasonable people. They sought to abuse internal processes and union resources as a campaign tool. This is not the first time Cormode perverted internal charges and resources to promote himself. Without your help, it will not be the last.

Even after receiving a letter from the Election Committee checking Cormode, the SIU slate still promulgated the LIE that RESCG, UNITED votes would be invalidated.

If you believe in free and fair elections, help us FIGHT BACK AGAINST MIKE CORMODE’S THREAT TO OUR DEMOCRACY by filling out the survey below. A charge has already been filed, but with your help, it can be a slam dunk.
