In 2023/24, despite the efforts of Bill Gilbertson, Ercan Ali, Gino Hernandez, Surya Bachtar, and others, Joe, Belinda, and Cormode only held a few “meetings” where their proposed amendments could be voted on. Members had to travel hours in some instances if they wanted to vote on changes to the bylaws.

The RESCG, UNITED slate has committed to launching online voting so that the entire membership can cast their ballot, regardless of their location in the Local’s territory.

We have already begun the leg work on setting the service up due to its popularity amongst the members.

If passed, it paves the way for a bylaw proposal that allows for more direct representation. Currently, the Local blanket assigns “delegate” to all Regional Officers, which in turn requires the entire membership vote on every Regional Officer.

Electronic voting would allow the local to comply with legal requirements that delegates be voted on by the entire membership AND permit the Local to allow Regional Officers be elected solely by their constituents. Your Region, Your Vote.
