Voting on issue by issue basis
In 2023/24 Joe Moreno, Belinda Moreno, and Mike Commode went around promoting bylaw changes that were voted on via an all or nothing ballot.
The membership is supposed to be the highest decision making body of this Local, but Joe and cronies refused to submit to those of us that wanted to make the proposed bylaw amendments severable.
The excuse that everything was intertwined was specious. Sure, dues would need to have been raised to support their addition of more full-time officers (that aren’t required to share their calendar or otherwise be accountable), but requiring members submit to allowing the strike fund be pilfered in order to accept any of the positive changes was unethical. The ten to one NO vote on the matter was a resounding call for better. Even if there were intertwined proposals the rest could have been voted on individually.
The RESCG, UNITED slate has committed to a bylaw proposal that requires bylaw amendments be severable. Not just individually so that another Joe Moreno can’t come in and claim one all-or-nothing deal is an individual vote in their “interpretation.”
