Protecting our strike fund

In 2023/24 Joe Moreno, Belinda Moreno, and Mike Commode went around promoting bylaw changes that were voted on via an all or nothing ballot.

Among the many changes was a proposal that gave broad latitude for officers to take from the strike fund for matters not directly of the members’ causing.

To be clear, it was apparent that Joe and Belinda intended to clean up the mess their friend and husband (respectively), Javier Salas, made in buying a building that would have a $1.5 million dollar balloon payment due less than seven years later.

The strike fund was created for the membership to use in the event of a strike- not to buy real estate close to the old guard’s homes.

The RESCG, UNITED slate has committed to making voting on bylaw changes easier via electronic voting, but also requiring a 2/3 majority of those voting to alter strike fund provisions.
