Ending expensive abuses
Under the current model, Joe Moreno will park at the gas company tower for $50 instead of taking a shuttle like the rest of us, get his union dues paid for luxury SUV detailed once or twice a month, take friends and family to multi-hundred dollar dinners, and merely has to convince Secretary-Treasurer Belinda Moreno (his decades-long friend) to quietly approve reimbursement.
Look, the President is supposed to be somewhat of a lobbyist on our behalf and may need to take a Senator or Council Member out to a business lunch on occasion, but that doesn’t mean it should be done in the dark.
The RESCG, UNITED slate has committed to moving the Local to the GSA.gov Per Diem rates for expenses and requiring Board approval of any expenses beyond those outlined in the GSA.gov obligations (travel, lodging, incidentals, etc.).
End the abusing of expense accounts. No more back room approvals of borderline illegal disbursements.
